Chalet Mollino.
Progettato e realizzato in località Lago Nero dal celebre architetto
Carlo Mollino (1905-1973) tra il ‘46 e il ‘47, a 2.286m, l’edificio ospi-
tava la stazione d’arrivo della slittovia. Questo famoso chalet, nato
come rifugio per sciatori, e al suo apparire oggetto di attenzioni
di una autorevole rivista quale «Domus», sino alla metà degli anni
’60 portò milioni di sciatori sotto il monte Triplex a 2.300m. Per
i suoi caratteri innovativi, strutturali e dinamici, questo origina-
le ‘chalet d’autore’ è considerato una delle più importanti opere
d’architettura moderna presenti nel nostro paese. L’edificio oggi
finalmente è tornato a rivivere: infatti nel 2001 sono stati ultimati
i lavori di ripristino esterni, costruito un parabrezza vetrato sulla
spettacolare terrazza, e ricavato uno spazio da adibirsi a piccolo
museo dello sci. L’autore di questa esemplare costruzione, unica
nel suo genere, deve essere considerato il più dotato e bravo ar-
chitetto moderno italiano. L’eclettico Mollino fu anche un notevo-
le fotografo dilettante, maestro e teorico dello sci, esperto di volo
e di automobilismo, e pure teorico della fotografia. Suo il mitico
ed epocale trattato di storia ed estetica fotografica ‘Il messaggio
della camera oscura’ (Torino 1947).

the religious Waldensian movements. The major altar, built by a craftsman from Thures (18
th cent.
and later painted by a master guilder from Pragelato who used all of the 6,000 sheets of gold, it
features a square of engraved wooden columns which frame the image of Christ’s baptism. On the
baptismal font (1540) the coat of arms of the Dauphins of France is engraved in the green marble
of Foresto and valuable is the lock (1534) of the lateral door, made of wrought iron. The steeple in
pseudo Romanesque style has a square plant and it is divided into five floors upon which there is the
high octagonal central cusp made precious by four triangular spires.

in Jouvenceaux, with the round shape of its stones, it carries the coat of arms of the Abbots of St.
Lorenzo in Oulx.

the Serra brothers. The Chapel has a Papal ‘bolla’(1498) in which special graces were promised to tho-
se who would restore it ‘in case of ruin’. Several are the minor religious buildings such as the Chapel of
St. Andrea (Tachier), the one in Richardette (private property), the Madonna della Neve (next to Ciao
Pais) and the one of Saints Vittorino and Letizia (near Staz. Sperimentale V. Vezzani).
