excursions Lago dei 7 colori or Lago Gignoux (2,329m) is reachable crossing the French border. It is

characterised by crystalline waters and is framed by an almost lunar-like landscape.
Lago Foiron. It lies at 2,129m in a plateau rich in vegetation; it is the ideal spot for a reinvi-
gorating rest and for sunbathing.
Lago Perso (2,000m): this picturesque lake is framed by shady pine and larch trees and it is
reachable also by car, along the road that leads to ‘Lago Nero’.
Lago Nero (2,014m) is easily reachable by car, it is characteristic for the dark colour of its
waters. It is said that a II World War tank is still lying on the bottom.
Lago Fontana Fredda (2,180m) is situated on the French/Italian border line, and it is towe-
red by Poggio Carabinieri, an ideal observatory from which the Carabinieri army controlled
the area in the past.
Finally, in area San Gervasio, the splendid ‘Gorge’ of the same name can be admired, formed
by the erosion of the river ‘Piccola Dora’. Here a Tibetan bridge has been built and with its
468m is the longest in the world.
La Capanna. Situated 300m from the centre, just 2km from the ski resort of Monginevro, it is
made up of 2 chalets immersed in the charming larch tree woods at 1,800m.
Baita Gimont. Reachable from Claviere in two hours, situated at 2,060m, this refuge is sur-
rounded by a small lake in the valley of the same name.
Capanna Mautino. From Claviere past Lago Nero one comes across this renowned refuge
(2,145m) where over the course of many decades some memorable alpine events have taken
place. It was originaly built by the ‘Sci Club Torino’ in 1920 named after Colonel Mautino who
was one of the pioneers of skiing.
La Coche. Reachable from Claviere in about half an hour this mountain refuge lies at 1,924m
and in the past it was the starting point of a ski lift.

Le Lac Gignoux (lac des 7 couleurs), 2.329m, peut être atteint en traversant la frontière
française. L’eau est encadré d’un paysage quasi lunaire.
Lac Foiron (2.129m), situé dans une plaine riche en végétation, est un endroit idéal pour la
détente et pour l’héliothérapie.
Une corniche ombragée de pins et de mélèzes le Lac Perso, 2.000m, accessible en voiture le
long de la route en direction du Lago Nero.
Lago Nero, 2.014m, accessible en voiture est caractérisé par la couleur sombre et intense de
ses eaux profondes. La légende raconte qu’un char blindé de la deuxième guerre mondiale
est posé sur le fond.
Lac Fontana Fredda, 2.180m, situé à la frontière. Il est dominé par le ‘Poggio Carabinieri’
observatoire idéal utilisé dans le passé par la Police pour surveiller les environs.
Enfin, dans la région de San Gervasio, ont peut admirer les Gorges homonymes, formées
par l’érosion de la Piccola Dora où on a construit un pont tibétain suspendu, le plus long du
monde.
La Capanna, situé à 300m du centre, à 1.800m d’altitude et à seulement 2km de la station
de ski de Montgenèvre, se compose de deux chalets typiques entourés de mélèzes.
Baita Gimont. Accessible de Claviere en deux heures, situé à 2.060m d’altitude dans la val-
lée homonyme, ce refuge est enrichi d’un petit lac.
Capanna Mautino. Partant de Claviere en direction du Lago Nero on atteint ce refuge hi-
storique où se sont déroulés au cours des décennies de mémorables épreuves d’alpinisme. A
l’origine la Capanna a été construit en 1920 par le Ski club Torino et par son nom il rappelle le
colonel Mautino, un des pionniers du ski.
La Coche. Accessible de Claviere en 30min. il est situé à 1.924m d’altitude. Dans le passé il
était le point de départ d’une remontée mécanique.
